Hi, I'm Heather Telford. I live in Canada where flowers happily and colourfully announce that winter is over and summer is coming!

I'm not much of a gardener but I love flowers. I plant and tend my garden to enjoy the end results. Even before flowers appear each year I am stamping, painting and colouring flowers on card sized art works. There are countless gorgeous floral images available for card makers and stampers and I've spent years using them in traditional and innovative ways. I have tweaked and improved favourite techniques and come up with new ones to keep my cardmaking interesting and enjoyable.

I hope you will join me in this self-paced class where I share my favourite techniques with watercolour and floral stamps.

When stamping and painting I am constantly inspired by the natural world. As FLORAL FAVES launches there are daffodils in bloom outside, blossoms bursting open and new growth appearing on the lupins, lavender and irises in my garden.

In my workroom I'm using dye based inks, watercolour brush markers and watercolour paints to bring flowers and foliage to life.

Flowers stamps fill quite a few tubs on my stamp storage shelves, perhaps you are the same. I have outline stamps, silhouette stamps and the semi-solid brushstroke stamps that lend themselves so beautifully to watercolour stamping. I hope you will grab some of your favourite floral stamps and join me in creating some blooming card sized art.

What is in the class?

This class is called FLOWER FAVES but I'm not referring to favourite flowers; I'm talking about my favourite techniques for floral cards. The class is divided into three lessons. We will emboss flower bouquets and backgrounds in the first lesson as I teach two techniques which have joined my faves in recent years.

In lesson two we will learn three techniques for painting 'no-line watercolour', then used those techniques to complete two detailed projects.

In lesson three we will use dye inks and water-based markers to bring flowers to life in both loose and detailed watercolour styles.

Do I need to have the same stamps, inks and brushes as you?

No, you don't. I imagine you will be able to make the cards in this class with supplies you have on hand. Do you have a variety of dye inks such as distress, memento or other brands? Do you have floral stamps, some outline, some brushstroke, some silhouette? If so you will be able to create these cards.
You will need good watercolour paper, preferably 100% cotton. I talk about the supplies in the introduction.
